The Ladies have been an established part of St Neots Golf Club since 1892 and it is recorded that they have managed their own competitions since 1906. Along with the longevity of the Ladies Section, there is a long history of St Neots’ ladies winning many of the county’s prestigious golf trophies including the Jean Wilkinson, Grace Norman and the Mary Cole Rose Bowl. They are contended for with enthusiasm and determination today.
We have over 70 lady members and all members, old and new, are encouraged to enter competitions. There are 23 Cups and Trophies that are played for, in addition we have monthly medals, stablefords, fun competitions, socials, matches against other clubs and mixed fixtures. We have ladies willing to mark cards for ladies without handicaps and to help them become an intricate part of the Ladies section. On the other hand, we have ladies who just want to play golf and don’t want the pressure of competitions, and many of these ladies enjoy our Senior Ladies Section, the roll-ups and fun competitions that are organised. Nine-hole competitions are also organised for those who find eighteen holes a struggle. These nine-hole competitions can also count towards attaining and maintain an official handicap.
It is with this sense of history we are very proud of our ladies section but, at the same time, are not afraid to make changes and keep up with current trends. Come and see what we have to offer – you won’t be disappointed.
